So it would seem that know that I have some time on my hands, and the world is my oyster. I've finally decided to stop messing around and actually do Manga the way I should have been doing for years now.

This summer, I am planning, (hopefully if work doesn't get in the way) to right a Mini-Manga story featuring the (somewhat) popular characters of mine, Little Red and The Big Bad. I'm planning some pretty action packed stuff as it revolves around an invasion. So get ready for some killer shonen style bad-ass-ness with lots of explosions, lasers, crab bots and of course, speed lines like you wouldn't believe!

In a completely serendipitous occurrence, it would appear that the very talented artist, The Orange One, [link] Is also attempting something similar. She's got some really cool stuff and I suggest you swing over to her page to check it out and lend your support.

As I haven't put a TON of thought into this, I am making it up as I go along (i know, red flag) but the basic synopsis involves a girl with a wrench sword and a mysterious connection to a very advanced piece of Mecha called The Big Bad. She and the Mecha are often contracted by the cities officials to get them out of the more hairy situations when the Steelios invade its borders. The Steelios are an invading army with an unknown leader. What are they after? Well you'll just have to read and find out.

So with out further ado. Lets do this thing!

Oh yeah, I am planing on utilizing screen tones so it may be a little slow. Sorry, i know your all excited.

Funny story behind this piece, it started as just a loose throw away sketch to warm up so it was done an a sorry ass piece of computer paper, the sketch however came out so nice, i just had to finish it though, lol, to bad it will never survive, its haggard already

Graduation

Well, Finally got my degree. Most expensive and time consuming piece of paper I've ever seen. Funny, I don't FEEL any better. Hmmmm, maybe it'll kick in later.

Anyway, I am enjoying my short break thoroughly before I move away from columbus and for the time being, I am doing some artwork just for me. Thats the most important thing, right? Well its good practice anyway.

This is something thats been itching the back of my artistic throat for awhile now. I been meaning to do a series of DarkStalkers paintings, and this is the first wip, so far so good. This is Lilith and Victor for those that are unfamiliar with DarkStalkers, and both belong to Capcom. I think this will come out interesting.

Re-Inventing Myself

Id really like a crit from you guys on some stuff ive been working on, a whole new look. I've developed a new method of doing things and I want to know what you all think from an artistic/illustrative point of view, not so much subject matter.

most of these are a bit unrefined as they are still sketches, but the overall feel of what a final would look like in this method shows up

my question is would you all like to see me pursue finalized illustration in this manner

im pretty excited about them and i think theres a ton of potential here

plus then I could just work strait digitally

please let me know

Well I ground Out a lot of concept work for The Gift yesterday, and got it on nice looking boards, these are shaping up quite nicely, especially Gino and the Hydra sisters. I am having a lot of fun with them.

im trying to bridge that gap to becoming a solely digital artist, i can see it working, it just take more time and perhaps a better tablet, and lots and lots of layers =D

A Strong day for drawing

got some nice drawings done today for The Gift concepts, its about time too, i especially like how Pastella is shaping up, and I think the "Hot-Head" version of Detton is finally awesome. Its only up from here.

The Bank Heist

Well then, I was thinking that I haven't been posting much lately, (even tho I've been up to a lot of new things) so I thought I'd throw up some old stuff with some new stuff. Heres the page pencils for my input on the Bank heist story as well as the sketch and finished line art for the cover im going to paint. I think my stylization is getting better everyday, now I need to work on my speed some more. I really need to learn how to be efficient if im ever gona get a comic contract =p

The Haiti Project?

Well it would appear that my professor has some strange ideas and decided to give us an editorial illustration based on the relief effort in Haiti using the character we made for his last project, mine being a cute mermaid cowgirl, i basically thought I was screwed, but I rallied and came up with this, I think it came out nicely and I'm interested in pursuing this stylization for other editorial and more serious type projects, its good to have two sides.

Im gona repost the character as well so you can get an idea of just how difficult of a jump this was to make

This one was pretty easy compared to the girls, I think that happens most often when im drawing male characters, maybe because im just drawing them and not worrying about them being supe cute each time

this guy is gona be a lot of fun to draw, after reading some of his lines in the comic, he's easily one of my favorite characters

SUPER EXCITING!!!!

Well well well, it would appear that all my hard work has payed off because my good friend at Marvel (yes THE Marvel, Marvel Entertainment) has passed my stuff on to a talent director. He offered me the chance to do a 6 page test script for them to showcase my skills drawing their characters in an actual Marvel Comic "Runaways" XD XD XD

Need less to say, I am ecstatic! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Okay, so step 1
Familiarize myself with how im gona draw these characters. I managed to get the four main characters sketched out today, and I'm liking the look i made for them.

1 Nico Minoru- a daughter of dark wizards, so a witch character essentially
2. Gertrude Yorkes- her parents were time travelers and she has a pet velociraptor
3. Karolina Dean - parents were aliens, making her an energy being type character
4. Molly Hayes- Mutant, super duper strong little girl

I can't wait to get this off the ground, this is sooo aswesome! =D
